Alzheimer's Through the Looking Glass

for The Sketchbook Project: 2011

In September, I made a pact with an artist in Beijing to make a drawing a day. She told me about the Sketchbook Project and I couldn’t resist. This sketchbook has opened the way to drawing about my mother’s experience with Alzheimer’s Disease.  Downstream is a graphic memoir on the same subject. Magical thinking is good medicine.

Thanks so much for your kind words and for the friendship, dancewithanangel! And yes, getting to hold the sketchbooks as they tour is amazing. I am so glad I went down to Brooklyn to do that.

I am so touched by your very special sketchbook.  It is beautifully done.  I know that you are a continued blessing to your mother and family.  I'll think of your book long after I get to see it in person in San Francisco.  Lots of love to you...

JizoGarden and am33r, thanks so much for your kind words. And yes try to get into Brooklyn or to any of the other venues that come near your orbits. It was wonderful to hold the books I was able to check out and page through them. I only wish I could have read them all!
