Marcelle Pachnowski

Painting is my passion. The act of painting: the movement, the gesture, the process of selecting brushes, palette knives, paints and colors, textured mediums, all are part of an exuberant ritual. All five senses are part of the painting/ritual process that has been the essence of my adult artistic life, music underlying and reinforcing the process. My place as woman artist – wife, mother, and grandmother – who has been raise and educated in a male dominated society is important to keep in mind. My concern for not “being” from a specific place/style or identified with a specified region of the country has, at times, been isolating, but it reemphasizes my experiences that are so important in the creative process, particularly in my quest for recognition, acknowledgement, validation and acceptance. I constantly deal with my private demons, obsessions, phobias, nightmares, compulsions and experiences. Heartache, grief, loss, pain, joy, love, bliss, lust, excitement…everything in life is an influence.

This is who I am, a colorist in a digital age.

Look at my paintings as a mirror of my life.
