Bio

Sarah Horvat is a published freelance illustrator and award-winning artist. Her illustrations have been featured in magazines, youth and adult books, and various media for a publishing house, publications, and arts organizations. She has exhibited her fine art in galleries, museums, colleges, and businesses.

Horvat was formally inducted into the prestigious National Association of Women Artists, Inc. (N.A.W.A.), New York, NY in fall 2009. Past members have included artists Rosa Bonheur and Mary Cassatt. She is also a member of SCBWI, the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, and SCBWI-Wisconsin.

In fall 2008, Horvat's "Eve Series" was selected for the "Paradise Lost" exhibition celebrating John Milton's 400th birthday at the Williamsburg Art & Historical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Her three drawings, the full Eve Series at the time, were among select juried works of 60 international artists. The exhibition has received worldwide recognition.

Horvat embraces a Renaissance-man approach, a passion reflected among her diverse interests. Her artwork ranges from realistic to abstract, literal to allegorical, with lyrical lines, organic forms and visual textures. Horvat's diverse portfolio includes oil and watercolor paintings, pastel and oil pastel, charcoal, and other mixed media with a recent focus on drawing, watercolor and ink.

Visited your site, Wow, I love what you do. I want to be like you when I grow up, but seeing as I'm already 63 that might never happen. Thank you for sharing and giving me hours of inspiration.
