Be a part of a massive print exchange

We are looking for artists all over the world to create an edition of 17 prints for our Great Art House Print Exchange. Sign up and get started!

The theme is "It'll be fun, I swear." As always, the theme is just a starting point. Don't feel held down by the theme, just have fun with it!

The exhibition for the Prints will be held on July 16th from 7-10pm. Sometime before that date you will receive 15 prints from other arts all over the world! Your 15 prints will be distributed to 15 other artists that also participated.

How do I sign up?

All you need to do is click on the participate button above and follow the prompts. After you sign up and we get your order you can get started making your prints ASAP!

What is an edition?

An edition is a series of prints with at least one element that is repeated in the same place in each print. For more info on editions check out the wikipedia page!

Please "edition" your prints.

In an edition each print is numbered in the 1/17 format. The first number is the number the print is in the edition, the second number is the overall number of prints you made. We must receive prints 1-17. Its fine if you make more then 17. However, we must get 1-17 to keep it the same for everyone.

Why an edition of 17?

15 of your prints will go to 15 other artists in the project. 1 will become part of a permanent collection at The Brooklyn Art Library, and 1 will be used for the exhibition and be sold for $100. You will get $70, and art house will get $30. We will NOT send back your print if it is not sold. That will also be stored at the Library.

All work MUST BE HAND PRINTED!

Your work must be hand printed. That includes, but is not limited to etching, photography, lithography, screen printing, and mixed media. We will not accept anything digitally printed. We have no problem with digital, it's just not the project for it. Please do not email us asking if you can use a specific technique. If you are hand printing it, then we will accept it.

Paper size

Your work must be 11x15 inches (a quarter sheet of regular 22x30 print making paper.) Nothing bigger or smaller. You will not be included in the exchange or the show if your work is not this size. NO EXCEPTIONS!

General Information

Please try and use good quality paper. Almost every art supplies store sells printmaking paper. Good quality companies include, but are not limited to, Arches, Rives, and Stonehenge.

Please write your full name and any other contact info you want on the back of ALL the prints. The artists who get your prints may want to get in touch with you to tell you how awesome you are!

Mailing your work to us:

  • Please postmark your work by June 1st, 2010
  • Please do not send something that requires us to be there or requires signature. If you do, we will do our best to receive the package, however we are not responsible for packages sent back to sender if we are not there.
  • We try to check in work as fast as possible. However it is a long process, especially close to the deadline. Even though your submission does not say we received it, it does not mean we didn't. We will check in everything at least one week prior to the exhibition date.

You will not get your work returned

For this project you will receive 15 prints back from 15 different artists. You will NOT get any of your prints back. Please make an extra for yourself.

Please allow some time for us to organize the prints and get your 15 back to you.

Your name on your work

Remember back in kindergarten when you had to write your name on the back of everything you made? The same rules apply here. We will not accept any work that does not have your name written on the back. Plus, don't you want credit for your work?

Work sold

During the exhibition, we will be selling all the prints in the show for $100 each. You will receive $70 and Art House will receive $30 if your print is sold. We will only sell the one print that we keep for the exhibition.

Images on the site

All the images in artists profile and the project photos section are uploaded by the artist. Art House does not and can not upload or take photos of your work. If you want to upload your own images make sure you take photos before you mail it off.

Lost/stolen/other unforeseen stuff

Art House does everything we can to keep your art work in great, un-lost condition. However stuff happens. Unfortunately we can not replace your art work and are not responsible for lost, stolen, dropped in a bin of water, ripped, destroyed, or anything else of that nature. We will try to make it better with what we can do, but again, we are not responsible.

Copyright rules

Your work is your work. We will never ever sell your physical work without your permission or not give you your share. We will however use your work in promotional materials, web ads, print ads and the like. We will also from time to time publish your work in an art house book. We reserve all copyright ownership to the books published. Each project will specifically state if the art work will be sold or not at the exhibitions.

Emailing

We will always do our best to respond to your email in a timely manner. However, remember if you have a question 100 other people are probably emailing the same question. Please read through our FAQ's, the project rules and the general rules before emailing us. We can not respond to all emails. At times especially around deadline times emails can be overlooked. We apologize and ask that you are patient with us. Most answers can be found on this website somewhere!

Hours of operation

Currently we are only open by appointment. Please email us if you want to come see an exhibition while it is up. We can not extend the dates for any reason.

Exhibition Photos

Exhibition photos can always be found on our flickr page at http://www.flickr.com/arthousecoop/ within one week of an exhibition.

By submitting artwork to Art House, LLC, you are giving Art House, LLC the right to use images of your photography for any promotional materials and on our websites. Newspapers and other media outlets (including online blogs) are allowed to use images of your photography in promotional material promoting Art House.

We sometimes print Art House books for projects. We have the right to use your work in any of these books and retain full copyright and royalty-rights for the books we publish and fund.

Your work is your work. You always retain the rights in all circumstances not involving art house.

Your work is your work and you retain the rights to it.
