Artists from all around the world will take photos in hopes of preserving the world in 2010. We will host an exhibition creating a world within a world and then one photo from each artist will be put into a time capsule to be opened in 15 years.
In a nutshell: you. We're looking for people with different cultures, ethnicities, geographic locations, and lifestyles. This is for anyone. You do not have to consider yourself an "artist" to participate.
Were heading to the 2 cities with the most participants* to have the participants help us first had finish off the time capsule.
So tell your friends, mail men, mom, dog, father, brother, or anyone else you know to sign up to get the project to come to you! Check out our groups page for more info on getting a discount for you and your friends!
The main exhibition will be held at Brooklyn Art Library on July 9th, 2010.
Artists from all over the world will attempt to create an accurate representation of the world in 2010. The goal of the exhibition is to create a physical wall of photos that creates an alternate world of our lives in 2010.
On the 9th of July, we will host an exhibition where at least one photo from each artist will be displayed. The walls of the gallery will be completely covered with the photos, creating a massive photographic installation.
Participation is easy. All you need is a camera (digital or film). After you sign up to participate, you can start shooting immediately. In the end, you'll be sending us up to 24 4x6 inch prints of your photos.
*Each winning city must have a total of 100 participants from at least 25 miles of the surrounding area of the city.
Please note that due to the nature of this project, you will not be able to get your photos back. Please make duplicates for yourself before sending them.
Upon signing up for the project, you may start immediately. You will not receive anything in the mail from us. You may use any kind of camera as long as you can produce 4x6 inch prints from it.
You may submit up to 24 4x6 inch prints. Do not include a border on them.
Each person will average 5-6 prints included in the exhibition with a minimum of AT LEAST one print included.
All the images in artists profile and the project photos section are uploaded by the artist. Art House does not and can not upload or take photos of your work. If you want to upload your own images make sure you take photos before you mail it off. If you need help with this we would be happy to help if you send us an email!
Art House does everything we can to keep your art work in great un-lost condition. However, stuff happens. Unfortunately we can not replace your art work and are not responsible for lost, stolen, dropped in bin of water, ripped, destroyed, or anything else of that nature, artwork. We will try to make it better with what we can do, but again, we are not responsible.
Your work is your work. We will never ever sell your physical work without your permission or not give you your share. We will, however, use your work in promotional materials, web ads, print ads and the like. We will also from time to time publish your work in an Art House book. We reserve all copyright ownership to the books published. Each project will specifically state if the art work will be sold or not at the exhibitions.
We will always do our best to respond to your email in a timely manner. However, remember if you have a question 100 other people are probably emailing the same question. Please read through our FAQ's, the project rules and the general rules before emailing us. We can not respond to all emails. At times especially around deadline times emails can be overlooked. We apologize and ask that you are patient with us. Most answers can be found on this website somewhere!
Currently we are only open by appointment. Please email us if you want to come see an exhibition while it is up. We can not extend the dates for any reason.
We will be posting the Brooklyn Art Library hours when it opens in February.
Exhibition photos can always be found on our flickr page at http://www.flickr.com/arthousecoop/ within one week of an exhibition.
